THE WAKE

This is our last ever piece of work.
It was, as with many of the best, born of a crisis.

We had come together in May 2022 to remount our show ‘All at Sea’ for a summer tour. On the 3rd day of rehearsals, 5 days before tour, our technical manager pulled out for health reasons. It was too late to re-recruit for a full performance schedule spanning the coming three months, so the last ever Acrojou tour was cancelled.

We used the remaining 5 days of what should have been rehearsal time, to conceive, design, write and shoot this short film.
Fittingly, it is about impermanence and letting go.

It is our goodbye.
We hope you enjoy it.

Creation of The Wake represents our ambitions moving forward. Through the vital support of the Cultural Recovery Fund and the diverse range work it allowed us to examine, over the next 6 months we will be undertaking strategic development to create two new organisational models that explore exciting and innovative new artistic practices.
The majority of this work was made possible by the generous support of Arts Council England and Kent County Council.
