Dear friends,
After a long reflective pause, we are happy-sad-nostalgic to announce that Acrojou is closing.
When we began eighteen years ago, Acrojou was just a friendship - a creative spark between the
two of us. Our work together was the visible layer of a deep curiosity in the questions of existence,
a search for ‘truth’- and the desire to explore this in dialogue with others. Often, however, the noise
of running the company would drown out this more subtle and important work, and we would
forget what we were doing and why. This is one of the reasons we have decided to seek new ways
for our ‘whys’.

In a world that is tearing apart at the seams, we return to the understanding that what we see in the
external world is born of the internal. One of the gifts of theatre is to bring us together to commune
around the fire, and in doing so, return us to our deeper truth: that of our interconnectedness - with
each other and with our world. As such, we believe it has a powerful part to play in building the
gentler, more equitable and more beautiful world we all hope is possible.
We send love and courage to those of you still building the fires for us all to commune around. Your
work is so important and valuable. We hope you get enough time away from the noise of making it
happen to keep hold of both your truth and your ‘whys’.
And to all those we made our fires with, who helped provide the fuel, or whom we met gathered at
the fires we lit - thank you. For your varied and deeply valued contributions to the times we shared,
thank you.
We’ll see you again, around new fires, as the search continues (infinitely!).
With love,
Jackson & Barney
