Adrift between life and death...One man’s battle with the meaning of a life well lived.

About Vessel

Combining circus, physical theatre, melancholic humour and projected video, Vessel will be an athletic and highly visual performance for outdoor, after-dark performances.  What is a life well lived? What about all those things you meant to do one day? In a time of rising seas, homes lost to flooding, and escapes made in unworthy vessels, Vessel will be about the value of ‘now’, and whether it is ever possible to leave knowing you did enough.

An emotive tale to inspire and uplift, in Vessel we look through the lense of death at how to best make use of the phenomenon we call life. How to remember to remember what matters, as we navigate our fast and overwhelmingly complex lives.

Bitter-sweet theatre, interactive sound, and the visual poetry for which Acrojou is known.

Vessel will be the second chapter to Acrojou's highly acclaimed new performance All at Sea....

About All at Sea

A lone boatman adrift in a sea of memories, accompanied by his own personal storm.

The prologue to Vessel, All at Sea is a  roving installation with a soundscape built from the voices of local people at each location.

All at Sea is a taster of the full story to come in Chapter 2: Vessel....

"This performance piece [All at Sea] by @Acrojou was mesmerising and completely immersive.
Forgot who and where I was.  This is what I like. I have decided."

The Conversations

In All at Sea and Vessel, we are, for the first time, exploring interactive performance. At each tour location, the performer spends time in conversation with local people. These conversations are used to build the soundscape for that day’s performances, meaning the show changes in a reflection of its audience as it tours. We will explore this further with Vessel, actively building a space for conversation and community with our audiences.
